Hello everyone! The school holidays are almost here! Coming towards the end of term 3, let’s talk about what we can do over the upcoming 2 weeks of holidays.
School holidays are a much-anticipated time for students. They provide a much-needed break from the long, boring days at school and offer a chance to relax, explore new experiences, and create lasting memories. So instead of us spending our entire holidays sitting in our rooms and scrolling through our screens, take inspiration to make the most out of these precious breaks.
It is strongly encouraged for students to stay well-balanced during the holidays, filled with fun activities, enough resting, and room for personal growth. In this article, we have provided some great ideas that caters to various interests and ideas. After surveying and investigating the plans of 21 CCC students, this article will be able to provide a better insight into what our peers are doing these holidays.

Before we jump right into suggesting all the unique activities for the holidays, let’s take a step back to investigate what students enjoy doing by looking at their weekly schedule afterschool. Here are the responses of some of the students we’ve interviewed.
“Usually, I will play Animal Crossing and work on some of my art things for a bit before I go study.”
“I either have basketball training or a basketball game, if not, I would go to the gym straight after school.”
“I do a lot of extracurricular activities, Chess Club, Tennis, Table Tennis, Piano lesson & Tuition.”
“I go to the library to study with friends…”
Linking after-school activities to planning for the holidays is an effective way to enhance your holiday experience and make the most of your free time. Think about what you do normally enjoy doing, whether it’s a hobby or a field of interest. Everyone’s after-school schedule is unique, we all have individual hobbies and priorities we want to do during the holidays.

We all most definitely need some personal time to cool off from all the social interactions and we strongly encourage you to do so! During this time, we can either reflect on the past term as we mentally prepare ourselves for the coming term, or we can some therapeutic activities at home. Of course, knowing how to spend personal time varies between individuals. Let’s hear from some students to see what their personal time looks like.
“Going to an internet-café or going to a public yoga class.”
“‘Me-time’ should be in a place I feel comfortable… being able to express however I want. Where I am able to unwind or try new hobbies… Going outside in the sun is amazing for slowing down and relaxing. Taking a walk down to your local park or forest really clears the head.”
“My home, my bed and my pool.”
“I recommend going to the library because of the quiet and peaceful environment, allowing myself to concentrate and be at a peace of mind.”

Still looking for more ideas on what you could do these holidays? Don’t worry! We have plenty more researched ideas we thought are interesting and could be a great, new experience.
Spend a part of your holidays volunteering and giving back to your community and your people. This experience not only provides a sense of purpose and belonging but also exposes you to different people, cultures and lifestyles. You can look for any available volunteer jobs at https://www.seek.com.au/, or you can also ask people in your neighbourhood and community.
Immerse yourself in a different culture and society by participating in cultural exchange programs. Spend a few weeks learning a new language and its customs. This programme will help you broaden your global perspective and gain a deeper understanding of that specific culture. You can enquire about these programmes either at the Sunnybank Hills Library or the Logan Art Gallery.
Outdoor camping is a great option for all nature lovers. You can plan a camping road trip with your family and friends, whether it's at a nearby forest, a lakeside campsite, or a national park. This will give you a chance to disconnect from the busy world and learn to appreciate and enjoy the simple nature and environment around us.
In conclusion, the school holidays represent a precious gift of time and opportunity for students to recharge, explore, and grow. As we've explored throughout this article, a well-rounded holiday experience is one that combines relaxation, exploration, and personal development.
